Landshut

In harmony with nature
Landshut – where hop grows on gently rolling hills:
When looking on old maps of the district of Hallertau one notices how appropriate this description is. Hop has been grown on the hills of today’s municipalities of Altdorf and Ergolding almost to the doors of the town of Landshut.

Whether you want to enjoy leisurely cycling tours, some loops on water skis, a scenically attractive golf course or a relaxing spa programme: The leisure time and sports offers in the district of Landshut are manifold and varied, so that everyone – local or tourist – finds their favourite activity.

More and more people discover the cultural and natural treasures of the Landhut district by bike. The continuously improving network of cycling trails is the basis for this. Regional and supra-regional cycling trails lead along rivers and brooks and criss-cross the fields of the district.
The many forests invite to shorter and longer hikes. Especially worthwhile is the area around the Eching reservoir, a nature reserve of international importance.

The old residents of Hallertau used to be a devout folk: Former pilgrimage churches are in all municipalities of the Landshut district.  The pilgrimage church “Zu unserer lieben Frau” in Pfaffenhause for example is a Rococo church lying on a wood-covered hill south of the village centre. In St. Leonhard in Oberotterbach (town of Rottenburg) lies a Baroque and Rococo church with a tower dating back to the 13th century on a hill above the valley of the Große Laabe river.
