Munich is a shopping paradise: Briennerstraße road, shopping centres and chain stores in the pedestrian zone, offbeat and extravagant stuff in-between the many galleries in the districts of Gärtnerplatz and Glockenbach, Haidhausen or Schwabing, Bavarian traditional clothes, crafts and souvenirs in special shops, culinary delights from all over the world at Dallmayr or Käfer, the leading delicatessen shops of Europe or on the Viktualien market in the heart of the town.

Hellabrunn Zoo

The zoo in Munich was founded in 1911. In any season it offers an impressive picture of the natural habitats of the nature reservoir of the Isar wetlands. Animals feel at home here thanks to proper keeping. There are no fences or grids and visitors can enjoy observing the animals.

Bavaria Filmstadt
Guided tour through one of the biggest and most successful film and TV studios of Europe with original venues of many popular TV hits and famous films, e.g. Marienhof, (T)raumschiff Surprise – Periode 1, Das Boot, Asterix und Obelix.

Churches, Monasteries, Palaces
With the Residenz and the Nymphenburger Schloss there are two important buildings right in the town centre. Due to its many churches, Munich was referred to as the “German Rome” in the 17th century.

Kunstareal München
The new Pinacotheca offers an overview of the epochs of European art ranging from Neoclassicism to Jugendstil (Art Nouveau). Special exhibitions complete the spectrum of the 19th century. The old Pincaotheca is a world-class gallery of paintings and features spectacular special exhibitions on selected themes in European painting from the Middle Ages to the 18th century. Smaller studio exhibitions and presentations have had a long tradition here too.
